A New Chapter

Hi everybody, and welcome to another post. I'll start with a bit of a curve ball, and mention my Dad's funeral that took place a few months ago. At the start of the service, the Celebrant spoke about different chapters in life, and how we had just moved into a new chapter after Dad's passing. This was an approach that I hadn't come across before, and I have to say that it did help me a little bit. I guess the same will be happening over this weekend with the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. The nation will pay its respect, and move onto the next chapter.

I've just realised that I have to do exactly the same with something else, but in a totally different situation. So - just one more time - this will be the final post about my amazing trip to Méribel last month!?! Then I'll move on I promise.

During the holiday I threw myself into photography, and had a great time having a sniff around the mountain. On purpose I held back some of my favourite photos, and all of them that feature in this post haven't been shown anywhere before. Photography has proved to be like a wonderful therapy for me, as well as helping to show the total and utter beauty of the Méribel valley.

One thing I tried with sunset photography was to find different locations and viewpoints. For years I've absolutely loved going to the end of the Altiport runway, setting up my tripod in order to shoot the stunning fingers of ridges looking due north. This trip I put my thinking cap on and found different spots to witness the same scene. I was particularly pleased with this spot above the top of the Rhodos ski lift.

It was a great experience being back out in the mountains, and I was very grateful to be able to do this. Sometimes it's good to take a step back and contemplate things.

Back to this weekend.....as the world looks on, the commonwealth and nation will gradually move on after the Queen's funeral. Everyone will have their own way of doing this.

The days are getting shorter and shorter now, with the temperatures turning chillier. We'll soon move into autumn, and then it will be winter before we know it. I'll return back to blogging about skiing very soon. Right, let's move onto the next chapter. Live. With. Passion. Martin.
